hundred pushups plan updated
As I have noticed, and as my brother noted in his comment on my last hundred pushups post, most people trying the program find it tough to get over the Week 3 hump. Since I am starting over, I returned to the 100 pushups site to look up the details again, and I noticed the plan had changed. If you look at the Week 3 page, you will find a link to the original page (“for a limited time”). And if you compare the two versions, you’ll notice the new and updated plan takes a lower slope than the old one. The guy running the site probably has been getting tons of feedback about how unrealistic parts of it were.
Here are excerpts from both versions, to point out the differences. First, look at the original Week 3 Day 1 numbers.

DAY 1

| LEVEL 4 | 10 | 13 | 15 |

And here is the updated version. Notice the reps are lower, across the board.

And it’s not just Week 3, either. Even if you start out brand new on Week 1 Day 1, that’s a new plan, too. You’ll find a link to the former Week 1 plan, and you’ll see its numbers are higher.
Let’s see how far I get this time.

Hey Paul,
I saw this push up stuff when your wife forwarded me the dogs’ blog. The dog stuff is awesome by the way. Anyway, I’m only on week 2, day 2 & I’m having difficulty remembering to do it but it’s kind of fun. Did you start back at week 1 again & what’s your starting max? I also really enjoyed your comment about your wife being one of the strongest people you’ve ever met-I’d have to agree with you! -Ann (Laura’s trainer)
Hi Ann!
The first time through, my max after the second week was 12. Doesn’t sound like much, but I had made steady progress – just not enough to go into Week 3. That was a couple weeks ago. So I am starting completely over again. I’m on Week 1 Day 2, and so far I’m at 9. I hope I can keep up the pace to make the run up to Week 3 again.
Hey Paul!
Sounds like you’re having difficulty keeping consistent w/this too. I am now on week 3, day 2 but admittedly day 1 wasn’t too pretty! It’s taken me about 5 weeks to get here so I may have to backtrack a bit too. Oh well, it’s fun! I’m glad I found your blog & this push up thing. I’m sort of updating my progress on a blog. I’m new to blogging (pretty obvious). I’d love for you to check the blog site out & give me any suggestions if you get a chance. Take care!
